Chelsea Heights Partners with MPR's Class Notes for Music Lessons & Performances
Chelsea Heights is excited to partner with Class Notes this school year, a Minnesota Public Radio program that provides accessible, relevant, and innovative concerts and lesson plans to K-12 classrooms. Every classroom teacher at Chelsea Heights is incorporating Class Notes lessons into their curriculum to ensure that every student is exposed to music education and has the opportunity to foster a love for music from a young age.
In addition to the classroom lessons, Class Notes is also sponsoring four concerts at the school this year. The first concert on November 15 featured Siama's Congo Roots, a husband-and-wife duo of Siama Matuzungidi, who hails from Congo, and his wife and musical partner Dallas Johnson. The duo told stories about Siama's life in Congo and invited the students to sing and dance along with the music. The students also got to ask questions about Africa and what it was like to grow up there.
The next three Class Notes concerts are:
- January 17, 2025 - Son de Cuerdas
- March 14, 2025 - Alma Brasileira
- May 9, 2025 - Steam Machine
Thank you, Class Notes, for bringing music to the students of Chelsea Heights!
