Welcome to Chelsea Elementary ELL webpage! Chelsea Heights students come to us from all over the world, and this year, about fifteen different languages are spoken by the children in our classrooms. What a wealth of diversity! The ELL teacher, Linda LeBoutillier,works with model of ELL service called collaboration, in accordance with district policy. She works together with the classroom teachers at all grade levels to facilitate language development. Sometimes she team-teaches with her colleagues in their classrooms. Most of the time she helps out with guided reading instruction. The collaborative model has been recognized by the district of St. Paul as a highly effective way to serve English language learners. The MISSION of the ELL Department is to promote strong foundations for academic achievement and English language proficiency for English Language Learners in the St. Paul Public Schools.
