Welcome to General Music at Chelsea Heights Elementary
School.
We continue playing recorders in Third and Fourth Grade, they will be playing very well! It will be fun to hear the "squeaks" of the first effort turn into real pitches. The children are very excited about playing recorders! Practicing is a great way to become a proficient musician, set aside a special place to practice at home. Thanks for your help and support!
First and Second grade students spend a lot of time in music class moving and dancing to the music. We spend more of our time learning many new songs from different places and about many different topics. Have your child demonstrate what we did in music class.
Fifth and Sixth grade students will perform on December 8. Please notice that this is a Tuesday evening and afternoon performance. It would be wonderful to have everyone there for this opportunity. Students will be able to showcase the things they are learning in music class. There is great talent in our students! Save the date and come to hear wonderful performers!
Music class is a busy place with much to learn and experience. We are very happy to be able to use the new technology to show slide shows, use the microphones, enhance lessons and much more.
Parent involvement is extremely important! Please talk with your student about what we do in class. If you are a musician, please feel free to share some of your expertise with our classes. PLEASE attend evening performances, it is important that we have great attendance at these events.
We have been lucky this year to have some students from the University of Minnesota work with our first hour students. It has been fun helping the future music teachers. Our fifth and sixth grade students were good teachers! Thanks to a partnership with Dr. Akosua Addo our school has helped prepare university students for several years.
Our Concert dates are:
December 8 - Fifth and Sixth Grade Students at 2:00 and 7:00
February 8, 2008 - First and Second Grade classes at 10:00 and 7:00
This is Monday! Be sure to notice the times!
April 29 - Third and Fourth Grade Classes.
