| | | | | PTO Committees | | The Chelsea Heights PTO includes several committees. From fundraising to wellness, these committees work to create the best-possible learning environment for our students.

Geckler Fundraiser Gwen Kosiak: My daughter, Ruby, is a first grader at Chelsea Heights. I look forward to the opportunity to help organize the Geckler fall fundraiser this year. Earnings from this fundraiser are distributed equally amongst the classrooms at Chelsea Heights and help teachers pay for books, games, and other learning materials. The teachers and students of Chelsea Heights will be grateful for the experiences and supplies that this fundraiser can provided. |
Literacy Committee Ellen McEvoy: The goal of the Literacy Committee is to increase family involvement in kids' development of literacy and to emphasize reading in the daily life of the school, and I look forward to working towards these goals this year. I am a community resident who has volunteered as a reading tutor for several years. While I don't have a child in the school, I have been warmly welcomed as a volunteer, and I encourage other community residents to get involved with the school as a volunteer. My tutoring will increase this year through my participation in the Experience Corps program. In addition to these efforts, I work part-time at Shoreview Library, and, after many years, I'm returning to the University just for fun. |
Playground Equipment Committee Ann Smith: I am the parent of 3; Ida (K), Michael (3rd grade), and Ellie (6th grade). I am excited about bringing together various stakeholders in the school, community, and St. Paul Parks and Recreation to develop a plan for creating and funding new playground equipment. I believe the commitment is there to support this effort and look forward to involving the Chelsea Heights community in making this happen! |

Wellness Committee Lisa Koelfgen: I am the parent of Jared Czech, grade 4. The Wellness Committee members and I are excited about the many healthy changes happening in St. Paul Public Schools. Chelsea Heights’ Wellness Committee was started last school year. It meets monthly to encourage a healthier community at school and at home by putting the school district's wellness policy into action. The policy outlines three areas of health and wellness for the school community: nutrition, physical activity, and staff wellness. When kids are physically active and eat healthy foods, they learn more effectively, sleep better, maintain a healthy weight, and feel better about themselves. Learn more about us by visiting the school’s website at http://chelsea.spps.org/Wellness_Corner.html, and please join our committee. After all, we had several successes last year, including the receipt of a grant that paid for jump ropes in every classroom. |
